| I had my first day on the floor at my brand new job!!! They are out of preceptors in the CICU, where they normally start all of the CTICU folks, so I was started in CTICU. Scary!!! Anyway, my first day was going really well. My patients were all very nice. One of them was sassy and that completely cracked me up. Especially considering that she was sassy while having an active heart attack and even after she had a heart cath done and a stent put in. I loved it. Anyway, at about 4:15, I was leaving a patients room with my nurse and I heard an alarm. My nurse starts running and of course I follow her. Where did we go, you ask? We went into the room of a coding patient. Alarms are going off and they're doing CPR and the whole deal. Now, I am ACLS certified so I do know how to run a code. But until you get into that situation, you have really no clue as to what it's truly like. By the time it was said and done, there were at least 15-20 people in this room doing stuff. Doctors, residents, nurses and RT were running around getting this, that and the other thing. CRAZY!!! But, now that I have seen one, I think that I could do it. So, that was my first day at my new job. Welcome to CTICU. | | |
| I had an interview today at Via Christi St. Francis for positions in CICU (Cardiac ICU) and for CTICU (Cardio-Thorasic ICU). All went very well and I was offered a position. I start on June 18 in the CTICU. Actually, I start a little later than that, after I complete some refresher classes. So, thanks to all who have been praying. I really appreciate it. :) | | |
| So, I have decided not to take the job at Susan B. Allen. I have decided that it's too far of a drive, not enough money (considering the drive) and not quite what I wanted. So, I have called Via Christi and am pursuing them harder. So, pray again, some more, for wisdom for me concerning what to do. :) | | |
| I got a call yesterday and... I have a new job at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado!!! Thanks to everyone that prayed for me. I have my physical on June 5th and once they deem me fit (aka...drug free) I'll put in my 2 weeks at the DASC and start there. I'm excited. It's not exactly what I wanted but I have prayed and believe this is what God has for me. There are lots of opportunities for me with cross-training into ER, OB and ICU once I get comfy where I'm at. So, I'm excited. The best part is the scheduling. Yes, I'm working 12 hour nights, but it's still cool. Envision a 14 day cycle. I work 4 days, off 2, work 2, off 6. Then it starts over again. I could take a 5 day vacation and not need to use my PTO!!! Yeah for me!!! | | |
